Plurk unwrapped

Last week we launched Plurk - a social journal we have been working on for the past 6 months.

perfect songs that get fucked up halfway

surely you’ve listened to one of those songs where the starting makes you go ‘hmmm, this is nice’ and then somewhere in minute 0.34, it starts to show symptoms of a sad bastard song, morphing slowly into a grungy, screaming, emo-itic, ‘i want to die’ crescendo, before dying down literally to a mellow and […]

Why is it that programmers always seem to think that the rest of the world is stupid?

Because they are autodidacts. The main purpose of higher education and making all the smartest kids from one school come together with all the smartest kids from other schools, recursively, is to show every smart kid everywhere that they are not the smartest kid around, that no matter how smart they are, they are […]

Last life in the universe - the review

Product Image: Last life in the universe
My rating: 4 out of 5

Thing is, I dont think I have to write a review for this movie. It’s one of those rare pieces that can justify its own full stars rating by just showcasing the line up of the production crews. World class filmaker, Pen-ek Ratanaruang directed it. Lead actor is the ever-stunning Asanon Tadanobu (Zatoichi, Ichi the killer, Bright Future or as Huinee likes to put it - the jellyfish movie). I watched all those three movies by him, all in this year alone and I tell you this guy is going to be BIG. I mean really BIG not as in genitalia BIG but stardom BIG. He is the Asia’s Johnny Depp in my heart. Last but not least, the legendary cinematographer, Christopher Doyle (2046, In The Mood For Love, Hero, Rabbit Proof Fence). I have a love and hate thingie going on with this dude. Sometimes he makes the movie clicks so well you just help yourself up and give him a thunderous round of applause (Wu jian dao). But other times it pretty much goes like this - WTF? in font size 72 (2046).

People needs to make more of this kind of movie. It reminds you of the many wonderful things you used to feel after watching a great movie.

Stupid things I want to do before I reach 40

My apology for all the video postings. It was one of those serene nights where I had one hand on keyboard and another holding a beer while the melancholic melodies blasting on background covering every inches of my rational senses.
I just realized I’ve always wanted to certain things before I reach 40.

Why can’t we all get along?

I am going to bitch about standards and their conformity level in the web technology world today.
