Romans know the best pick-up lines
Just finished Augustus last night and I love it. There is so much we can learn, not only from the Rome civilization itself, but also from the characters and players in probably one of the earliest and most well documented republic in human history. Cicero, Tiberius, Augustus, Livia, Mark Anthony, Octavia and a dozen more. I am searching for the next book about Romulus, the man who founded the Rome empire.
And you gotta hand it to their poets for their wittiness and playfulness :). In an age where a wrong choice of words can easily send one to Hades, they along side with the teachers and historians are probably the bravest bunch of all. No offense to the legionnaires of course.
