When you have five very hot girls keep asking you ‘Hey you haven’t update your blog for a while? Busy?’, you know you’re doing something right with your blog. So hopefully with the help of a little messy design realignment, a mascot and some fresh content, I will be able to find myself a reason to start writing again.
The idea of the realignment is sort of my in-denial and prematured attempt to break out of my ’style’. You see, according to some, I have a certain style when it comes to designing for websites. I don’t agree. Here’s how a conversation went with one of the hot girl the other day:
Me: Hey, you want to preview the latest University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s design?
Hot Girl: Sure!
Me: Here you go. http://blabla.xxx
Hot Girl: Haha, you don’t even have to tell me but I know it’s your design. The design is SO YOU.
Me:Uhm.. but I didn’t design it.
While working on the puppylab site, I remembered trying to put a grungy-looking menu in the header and this Hot Girl #2 said “That’s not like you. Your design is simple, clean and elegant. I don’t like the menu”.
Well, I can be dirty-looking, badass and dark too, if I want. There’s no stinkin style that I was trapped into. I’m a hybrid, I’m a hybrid…. (Self-repeat for 100 times).
I also added a new project in my portfolio. It is a green tea club web site. I’d already handed over the final design to the client but right now they are still working on the backend.

Finally, let’s talk about the mascot! I love the mascot :D. Ken of kenart.net’s fame was kind enough to sketch a mascot for me. Well he actually came out with like 15 and asked me to choose. It was tough since the cuteness on each sketch is uniquely personal and beautiful. I was seriously playing with the idea of taking them all. ^_^ Now, if you guys can come out with a name for this little sad cutie….
So what do you think? Think I can pull it off with this newfound, messy art of the dark side? To be honest, I’m not even sure myself.
Tip: You can always switch back to the old style if it’s too messy for you (look for ‘mood’).
