Leaving Knowledge Marketing
It was almost one year ago I posted about starting my new job at Knowledge Marketing. This was my first job after getting my degree and the experience had been immensely valuable. The people I work with here are super cool and over the last couple of months, the company had started to put together what I think is a very talented web team.
But I believe it is time for me to look for new and fresh challenges in my career. It has always been my interest in learning and understanding user-centric web development. I love the web and in some ways that has been one of the few main reasons why I decided to look elsewhere.
All my best works have mainly focused on user experience and it isn’t to say that Knowledge Marketing isn’t the right platform for me to achieve that goal - it is just never quite that kind of a company. There’s no focus groups for website testing, no usability and accessibility reviews and supports for web standard is abysmal, to put it frankly. I hope this doesn’t sound like a parting shot aimed at KM but more of a way to put it that my forte, for the lack of better words, is probably of better use somewhere else.
My last day at Knowledge Marketing is 28th February. I will be starting my new job as a web developer for University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University Communications department the very next day. (When I have time, I’ll write about my choice of choosing UNL instead of the other two companies who had also made me an offer)
See you all back in school. :-)
