Fire…err dog?

be334c51db94cb63ee5a5e1923c8bab5_5360_1.jpg

One guy in the spreadfirefox.com posted this. At first glance, i almost bought it. Look at the eyes, its fox’s eyes. This is the closest we ever get in getting a real life version of the firefox mascot.

The Information day went well. I wish the same thing can be said about our presentation on ‘Steganography’. Three of us were no well prepared, heck it had been like ages since the last time we presented smth to the general public. Oh well~~

Took a few pictures with my new digital camera. Cant wait to get jiggy~ with it over this weekend.

Final frontier

I am now sitting in front of a 15′ inch Planar LCD screen in CSE lab down the basement of Avery Hall. I am tired, very tired. I can see there’s only 3 people here. Its Saturday. I am still trying to reason with myself to come out with a strong justification that would somehow explain my well-doing here. In many instances, i would have easily mumbled ‘I need a life’ to myself. But not today. Today i realize i need a life and some aspirins.

So i guess i can use the classical excuse of ‘the final is just around the corner’. It is. With less than 2 weeks time and 4 final exams waiting down the line, the prospect of me having the luxury of time to do css/online gaming/watch dvd/stare at the wall/go for movie/eat out is certainly looking bleak at best. So i decided to start studying the material early (like that will helps), starting this morning, 4th of December 2004.

Now it is 5 pm. i hadnt even touch my notes yet. Sometimes, it has crossed my mine that i am incapable of commiting myself to life goals that i’d previously set for myself, be it long term or short one. Like last night, i had set out to cook myself some chicken wings marinated with char siew sauce, i ended up with sausages with salad dressing.

Heading for the exit sign with my head way way low.

Battle of Middle Earth

Days gone by and it seems like more and more people are dying in Iraq. It’s one thing to feel bad and heartache about it; it’s another thing for those who have actually lived through it. Too much has been said, argued and fighted over for. There’ll always be time to stand up and uphold your ego and values, or fight terrorism so to speak. But not this time. It’s time to bring the troops home.

Battle of Middle Earth is coming out on the 6th of December. Something i look forward to for a long long time. I actually skipped Half life 2 and Doom 3 so that i will only focus on one game this coming winter break. Saramon…..i am gonna bring you down. ROAR!!!!!

Self Portrait

After uploading about 10 of my recent photos in photodock, my sister reminded me i still havent take any of my own picture. So here you go. They are blurry. I dont like the tension of having to go for autoshoot as 1.) i dont have a tripod, 2.) the camera always shot before i got time to ‘pose’, the manual mentioned 10 seconds!

So here’s the picture of my own reflection from the mirror.

A day of recognition

medal1.jpgmedal2.jpg

I received this replica medal from my cryptography class professor today. The medal was given out to few students for a combination of different reasons, namely for obtaining great overall scores, presenting paper in the Information Security days and know how-to kiss his ass during the course of the semester. Ok maybe not the last one .

I think this medal was crafted to commemorate the Navajo code talkers for their brave act during the WWII. I love the movie Windtalkers to bits, so it was quite a great feeling to actually receive this as a token of appreaciation for something that i have worked hard for.

‘Cryptography and Computer Security’ is easily the best class i’ve taken this semester. I’d learned a whole lot and it had given me a whole new found interest in computer security. Computer Security is such an important issue in today’s internetworking and computer network system that it’s such a shame only one security course is included in the computer science undergrad’s syllabus.

Well i also got this certification from poetry.com last week. Apparently my poem has been selected as the ‘Editor’s choice poem of the month’ and is to be entered into the final round of the site’s anually held poem competition. I stand a chance to win like 6000 dollars or smth, and maybe if i win i will buy the book (all finalist’s poems will be published into a hardcover book) they so heavily advertised about. Till then, no thanks. I couldnt even really remember when i had submitted my poem to the site.

Anyway, this piece of paper doesnt really mean a hell lot to me. Not that i dont appreciate the site’s effort or the award itself, but i think i am already a happy man when people finds my poem to be of an interesting reading, and any distinctions or material honors that comes along with it is an added bonus. Besides, the puny golden medal has already made my day. Ha!

Extreme pain

My head hadnt been going through a healthy spell lately. It kept trying to kill itself. Maybe its the combination of lack of sleep, malnutrition and lenghty period in front of the pc monitor (which is one of the reason i want to get a LCD monitor, it’s eye-soothing).

Although i have always had headache problems, i always refrained myself from taking pills such as aspirins or tylenol. I just dont feel comfortable with the drugs’ name, nothing else. Those percription drugs should have nicer name on their label so that people wont skip their medication. Strangely enough for me, a good 5 hour sleeps always seem to cure the problem.

At times, the pain can be unbearable but i am reluctant to go into details about my suffering. Any more vivid descriptions of such, my gf will drags me to a neurobrain specialist for a comprehensive check-up.

Dont worry people, its just smth to do with my brain, see smart people has unusually huge size of brain, because they absorbed things presented to them faster, and the blood vessels in the brain……..

*i should probably stop writing now*

Kill 3 birds with 1 stone

In a desperate effort to reassure my parent these following things:
a.) I DO keep a tidy wardrope.
b.) I am living and eating healthy here. See no tummy fat and not too skinny either.
c.) I dont look that tired after all.

I present to you my semi-nude picture. I have coded a script in my site that will initiate an IP tracking process towards visitors who stare at my nipples for more than one minute.

Its not a hoax. Ok maybe the last part is…

Not a joke

Uncle Bushie is Time’s person of the year. That’s like saying Britney Spears is the new Madonna or Outkast is the 22st century’s Beatle or tomato is my favorite food/fruit of the year. *I can very easily think of another 1001 metaphors but……* You know who i think should be the person of the year? Either the US Army fighting in Iraq or my mother. But my mom will gratefully declines such an honor * I love you mom*. It has came to a time where we need to take a moment of silence and grieve for the media world. Reminds me of what Allen Ginsberg once wrote in one of his poems - America :

I’m addressing you.
Are you going to let our emotional life be run by Time Magazine?
I’m obsessed by Time Magazine.
I read it every week.
Its cover stares at me every time I slink past the corner candystore.
I read it in the basement of the Berkeley Public Library.
It’s always telling me about responsibility. Businessmen are serious. Movie
producers are serious. Everybody’s serious but me.
It occurs to me that I am America.
I am talking to myself again

Publicity outweights neutrality in the news reporting world today. Negative images fill the screen. And we as the readers, willingly or unwillingly, get hypnotized into believing them, bit by bit, which in the process help shapes our ‘own’ point of view.

You can’t change the world
But you can change the facts
And when you change the facts
You change points of view
If you change points of view
You may change a vote
And when you change a vote
You may change the world

Designing bottom up.

Currently in the process of redesigning my blog page. I am seriously playing with the idea of putting Daily Misery as my main page, instead of the flash-flipping thing just to increase accessibility for those with low bandwidth internet connection. We’ll see how it goes when i finish designing the page.

Been watching a lot of movies, eat out quite often and sleep very late recently. I wonder when this after-final’s dreamland will be taken over by Michael Jackson’s Neverland. But school will starts pretty soon (January 10), so i guess i better stay with this unhealthy lifestyles while i can.

This year marks the second time i have to celebrate year-end festive season without Karen by my side. Its exactly at times as such the side-effects of a long term relationship kick in. Aint a great feeling to live with…..

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. God bless you.
